Southwest China's Sichuan province has been ravaged by floods and landslides, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives and leaving three others missing.

Flash floods triggered the landslides, causing significant damage and endangering the lives of local residents. The catastrophe unfolded on Tuesday when landslides struck Miansi and Weizhou townships in Wenchuan county, prompting authorities to initiate the evacuation of over 900 individuals.

In response, more than 400 rescuers were deployed to search for missing individuals. Tragically, four people, including a couple from Miansi township, were discovered lifeless later in the day. Efforts to locate the three missing individuals are still underway, as reported by official broadcaster CCTV.

To ensure the safety of residents, over 900 people were successfully evacuated from the affected area, as confirmed by the Xinhua news agency.

Wenchuan county holds historical significance as the site of a devastating earthquake in 2008, which resulted in a staggering death toll of at least 69,000 lives, according to the Chinese government.

China is currently grappling with extreme weather conditions, with heavy rainfall wreaking havoc in southern regions and record-breaking temperatures scorching the northern parts of the country, including the capital city, Beijing.
